about us

encore4 is a project sprung from the surprisingly creative imagination and technical expertise of Stefan Hübbe (a mechanical engineer and project manager) from Berlin and Chloe Salder (a teacher) from London. We quit our jobs to live a life less ordinary and have subsequently spent the last three years sailing around the World and making our 12 metre sailing yacht our home

Living in a limited space with no access to the grid or any land-based facilities means we have to live as sustainably as our living conditions allow, questioning the impact every purchase we make and everything we discard will have on our lifestyle and our environment. Energy, waste and the monitoring of these elements has therefore become as much a part of our daily ritual as making a cup of tea. Whether or not we can watch a DVD or even make that cup of tea is dependant on how much energy our solar panels and wind generator have made each day.

We have come to view energy management and the adaptation of our lifestyle to the renewable energy created as a solution, as opposed to a compromise in comfort.

We started creating recycled design solutions based on our learning from these experiences. Being out of our comfort zone gave us the confidence to pursue a path that we are incredibly passionate about.

Our intention is simply to inspire change and promote conscious consumerism. We have not jumped on the 'green' bandwagon! Instead we hope that our holistic dedication to recycling challenges you to question and fully explore any claim to 'sustainability' or 'eco-friendly' to that end..
